On November 12, 2019, Luis Cortes Romero, a 2013 graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law School, was part of the legal team that argued before the US Supreme Court regarding President Trump’s termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. That policy, created by President Obama, allows the children of undocumented immigrants to apply for a two-year deportation deferment. Cortes’ appearance before the Supreme Court was also very significant in that he is himself one of the one million DACA recipients whose future will be impacted by the Court’s decision.
