Bear Conservation and Research at Washington State University

July 17, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join us and we’ll introduce you to the bears on campus at Washington State University in Pullman, WA and talk about the research we do on that has helped conserve bear populations world-wide. Get an up-close view of the bears, see their personalities, and learn about how we work together to accomplish our research–from how to train a bear for voluntary blood draws, to how bear research might be able to help astronauts survive space travel, to unlocking potential cures to diabetes by studying bear blood, or helping to determine whether polar bears have a chance of surviving on land into the future.

Joy Erlenbach, a bear biologist and Ph.D. candidate at Washington State University. Projects include, ecology of coastal brown bears in Katmai National Park and Effects of increasing visitor use on the behavior of coastal brown bears.
