Jacqueline Wilson (School of Music) Performance “Original Storytellers: An Exploration of Indigenous Relationality”

September 22, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Jackqui WilsonArtistic design of a human with long flowing hair.

This performance is the culmination of a project funded by a New Faculty Seed Grant that allowed Dr. Jacqueline Wilson (Yakama, Assistant Professor of Basson) to collaborate with Māori composers Te Ahukaramū Charles Royal, Takerei Komene, and Phil Brownlee to create new works for the bassoon. These pieces will be juxtaposed with scenes from Indigenous filmmaking by Taida Waititi, Chris Eyre, and Sterlin Harjo to explore concepts of Indigenous relationality.

Hosted by the WSU School of Music. The concert will also be live-streamed: https://events.wsu.edu/event/faculty-artist-series-jacqueline-wilson-bassoon/ .
