DESCRIPTION:The Professional Development Initiative Presents:\nStress Relief and Mindfulness Workshop\nNovember 16\, 2:00-4:00pm \nGraduate school can be stressful\, competitive\, and extremely demanding. Graduate students experience high rates of burnout and mental health problems from unrelenting workloads and pressure. It takes time and practice to learn to slow down\, do less\, and take care of yourself. Learn the basics of mindfulness and meditation training and how to realistically incorporate these practices into your daily life as a graduate student. We will be discussing mindfulness in a variety of contexts\, with ample time to practice different techniques to enhance your wellbeing. \n***Part of the workshop will be movement-based. Please wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to participate in some gentle yoga postures. Also\, if you have a yoga mat you can bring\, please do! Each contest centers around this year’s common reading book\, Ready Player One\, and has a cash prize of $500. \n\nArtist Award\nThe tangible and virtual worlds inhabited by Wade Watts\, protagonist of this year’s common reading book Ready Player One\, contain a variety of characters\, environments\, scenes and objects both grounded in grim reality and the fantastic world of the OASIS.\nWe invite you to create an artistic rendering of your choice related to this year’s common reading book for an opportunity to win a $500 award. Learn more about the Artist Award\nEssay Contest\nIn the future when Ready Player One takes place\, Wade Watts attends a public school in the virtual reality of the OASIS.
