DESCRIPTION:Come and join us in watching this drama musical film on Tubi which tells the story of Hector Lavoe\, a Puerto Rican singer whose voice showcases the salsa music to the world. \nWe will be watching El Cantante\, a film that stars Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez\, showcases the life and death of Hector Lavoe\, who is seen as the godfather of Salsa. While Hector is following the footprints of those before him\, he is guided by his wife\, Puchi\, in black and white flashbacks. Puchi lived until 2002\, up until drugs took her life. This movie is a musical that shows Hector Lavoe’s love for Salsa\, with his upbringing from Puerto Rico when he moved to New York and partnered with Willie Colon\, a trombonist. Salsa is the blend of Latin\, jazz\, and rock which becomes a very big deal thanks to Hector Lavoe and his musical gift.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month\, we will be hosting muralist Jose “Nuke” Montalvo\, who will lead a presentation and workshop demonstrating art as a tool for social revolution\, change\, and healing. \n“Nuke is a multi-talented and imaginative artist who seamlessly blends the worlds of graffiti\, muralism\, and design. With a passion for pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms\, Nuke’s work is a stunning fusion of vibrant colors\, bold lines\, and dreamlike themes that truly captivate the viewer. Whether through large-scale murals or smaller\, intricately detailed pieces\, Nuke’s unique vision and unrelenting drive continue to inspire and amaze those who experience it” (nuke.one). \nJoin us in the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center at WSU Pullman on Friday\, September 29th\, for an evening of food\, music\, and art. Doors open at 5 PM\, with dinner beginning at 5:30 PM. Following dinner\, Jose “Nuke” Montalvo will begin his presentation and lead a painting workshop. All supplies will be provided. 15 students who participate in-person will be chosen to help design a mural that will be created on the Pullman Campus. Things start to heat up when Lauren’s brother\, Justin\, comes to town with his fiancée Carrie to open up fulfill their dream of opening a winery. Justin leaves Lauren and Carrie in charge of the marketing side of the winery and enlist the two to design new labels for the bottles. SUMMARY:Boeing Speaker Series: The Power of Early Career Rotation Programs
DESCRIPTION:Starting your career fresh out of college can be daunting\, especially given the number of options available to us within a specific career profession.  This discussion will focus on how an early career rotation program can be beneficial for both professional and personal growth and set you up for future success. Monesa will share her perspective on how leveraging an early career rotation program helped her jump in\, try different things\, develop her network quickly\, and sharpen key skills. \n  \nSpeaker Bio:  \nMonesa is a senior manager at The Boeing Company\, responsible for leading Core & Digital Aviation Solutions Business Operations in Boeing Global Services (BGS). She started her career at Boeing as an intern in 2010\, joined the company full-time in the IT Career Foundation Program and then progressed in the Information Technology and Data Analytics organization before joining Global Services in 2021. In 2018\, she had the opportunity to spend three months in Bangalore\, India on an international assignment and in 2017 was a recipient of the Women of Color Technology All Star Award. \n  \nPrior to joining Boeing\, she owned multiple small businesses and worked for various startup companies in lead positions. She holds a M.S. in Engineering & Technology Management and a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems\, both from Washington State University. \n  \nMonesa is passionate about diversity and inclusion and is heavily involved in efforts that focus on creating an environment of psychological safety\, where all employees feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. Monesa lives in Gunter\, TX with her family and their Australian Labradoodle. Monesa’s favorite motto to live by\, which she developed over a decade ago is ‘be a lime’.
