SUMMARY:ASWSUG Valentine's Movie Night: Love\, Simon
DESCRIPTION:Join us and watch on Tubi the story of Simon\, a 17-year-old who is yet to reveal to his family and friends that he is gay.\n17-year-old Simon Spier is a gay teenager who is afraid to tell his friends and family that he is gay. After learning about an online site for closeted gay students at his high school\, Simon joins and meets someone who goes by the name of “Blue”. Things take a turn when Blue and Jacques’s (Simon’s pseudonym) emails are discovered by Martin and Simon is blackmailed by Martin in an attempt to help Martin to win over Simon’s friend Abby. Simon makes it his goal to find out who Blue is. After many suspicions\, Simon is at a loss and keeps lucking out on who he thinks Blue is. Along the way\, Simon’s secret is revealed and people learn that he is gay. Shutting everyone out and facing humiliation is something Simon struggles with\, but is shocked when his friends and family are accepting. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Starz in watching Roman J. Israel’s story (rental or subscription service is REQUIRED to access the film).\nDenzel Washington plays Roman J. Israel a defense attorney in Los Angeles\, who shows signs of Asperger’s. Roman helps those who are underprivileged. Things change drastically when Roman J. Israel’s boss and mentor\, William Henry Jackson\, dies unexpectantly from a heart attack. After the death\, Roman is then recruited by George Pierce\, and his activism is put to the test at the law firm when he has to take on the case of Langston Bailey\, who is accused of murdering a convenience store clerk. Along the way\, Roman is faced with more challenges than just in the courtroom. Roman meets Maya and they try to navigate things together\, however\, Roman is the most knowledgeable when it comes to women. When Mei’s mom\, Ming\, finds out about Devin\, Ming embarrasses Mei publicly. Being humiliated and upset\, Mei has a nightmare about red pandas\, and when she wakes up\, she wakes up as a red panda. Trying to hide this secret from everyone\, Mei learns she transforms into a panda when her emotions are high. After another embarrassing moment at school with her mom\, Mei transforms and runs home to hide. The truth comes out when Sun Yee\, Mei’s maternal ancestor\, tells Mei’s parents that all female descendants have this ability to protect the daughters and villages during wartime.
