DESCRIPTION:ASWSU Global is thrilled to be partnering with WSU Pullman’s Chicanx Latinx Student Center (CLSC) and Global Connections to present The Untold Stories: Using Art as a Tool for Revolution and Healing. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month\, we will be hosting muralist Jose “Nuke” Montalvo\, who will lead a presentation and workshop demonstrating art as a tool for social revolution\, change\, and healing. \n“Nuke is a multi-talented and imaginative artist who seamlessly blends the worlds of graffiti\, muralism\, and design. With a passion for pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms\, Nuke’s work is a stunning fusion of vibrant colors\, bold lines\, and dreamlike themes that truly captivate the viewer. Whether through large-scale murals or smaller\, intricately detailed pieces\, Nuke’s unique vision and unrelenting drive continue to inspire and amaze those who experience it” (nuke.one). \nJoin us in the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center at WSU Pullman on Friday\, September 29th\, for an evening of food\, music\, and art. Doors open at 5 PM\, with dinner beginning at 5:30 PM. Following dinner\, Jose “Nuke” Montalvo will begin his presentation and lead a painting workshop. All supplies will be provided. 15 students who participate in-person will be chosen to help design a mural that will be created on the Pullman Campus. Registration for the in-person event closes on Friday\, September 15th. We are able to accommodate 60 Global students – click RSVP to register now before spots fill up! \nPullman campus is also hosting the Pacific Northwest Student Leadership Conference on Saturday\, September 30th\, and Global campus students are invited to attend! \nInterested in attending\, but worried about the cost of traveling to Pullman? Take advantage of ASWSU Global’s travel grant! Submit your travel request by Friday\, September 15th to be reimbursed up to $150 from your travel-related expenses (make sure to keep all of your receipts!).
